Do you spot the Red Brick Road in these pictures? This section of road was once part of the Yellowstone Trail, which was the first transcontinental automobile road in the Northern United States, connecting Seattle to Boston. This trail was intended to be traveled by car as automobiles became more popular, in a time before state or federal highway networks had been created. What remains visible of the Yellowstone Trail in Redmond is a mile-long portion of 196th Ave NE east of Redmond in unincorporated King County. This area, known locally as “The Old Red Brick Road,” is one of the few sections of the route that still has the original brick paving.
